Back on Trackz

I'm back on land and back to the music.  Been sailing for a couple months and trying to catch up on all the new music I missed.  Needless to say I am still pretty behind and just watched "What Does the Fox Say?"  for the first time.  Freaking epic I can't stop singing it.  You know you are out of touch when your baby cousins have to show you songs.

Today is a mix of music from electro swing to trap to some relaxed beats.

Just listen.

Andrew's Break by AlgoRythmik:
I heard this track on KOTO and had to find it.  After a couple weeks of searching I finally found it on Christmas Day.  And promptly made my entire family listen in between all the christmas songs my dad plays (despite his Jewishness--he loves all songs Christmas).  Electro swing rocks.  Ferryboat Serenade is a classic and I love it.

Modern Jesus by Portugal.The Man

"We may be liars preaching to choirs
But we can
We can sell your dreams."

And then there's Mike D.'s upbeat remix that'll blow your freakin mind.  Those grindin' synths...
A quote from Mike D on his remix: "I knew I wanted to do the song and push it, make it bump more, trap that shit out."
Trap that shit out indeed, good sir.
Not my favorite but definitely worth a listen.

Lost in My Mind by The Head and the Heart
"Momma once told me
You're already home where you feel loved"
^^Really tugs are your heartstrings, ay?

Caro tha prophet, a good friend of mine, made me listen to "Lost in My Mind" when I got back.
She makes the best CD's.
Words out that The Filmore is really liking what The Head and the Heart is up to.  Yaaaaaahay.

All of Me (De Hofnar Bootleg) by John Legend
Creds to mi hermana mejor.

Oh Jim by Gay Dad
"Can I leave it all behind?"
My friend Nick showed me this one, while wondering who the fuck Jim is.
A lamenting rock ballad filmed at the Holiday Inn in Lebanon after being bombed.  Intense.

And lastly,

Skin by Zola Jesus
As featured in the trailer for the 2013 Romeo and Juliet.

Have a happy holiday!

mondayz music

i love this song. heard it for the first time today, new favourite

"I heard them calling in the distance
So I packed my things and ran
Far away from all the trouble
I had caused with my two hands
Alone we travelled on
With nothing but a shadow
We fled, far away
Hold your horses now
Sleep until the sun goes down
Through the woods we ran
Deep into the mountain sound
Hold your horses now
Sleep until the sun goes down
Through the woods we ran"
-Mountain Sound by Of Monsters and Men
The music video JUST came out, it's on vevo

this is pretty cool

"This is how I show my love
I made it in my mind because
I blame it on my A.D.D. baby
This is how an angel cries
I blame it on my own sick pride
Blame it on my A.D.D. baby"
-Sail by AWOLNATION
^i picked this video because it is better than the official one. fact.

"Do you know where the wilds things go
They go along to take your honey,la la la la
Break down now weep build up breakfast now
Let’s eat my love my love love love, la la la la
Muscle to muscle and toe to toe
The fear has gripped me but here I go
My heart sinks as I jump up
Your hand grips hand as my eyes shut"

anddd back to da music:
this is the song in the above ski video:
"I raise my flags, don my clothes
It's a revolution, I suppose
We'll paint it red to fit right in
Whoa
I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa
I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age"
Radioactive by Imagine Dragons
^i listen to this song while driving to school errday

ok and i gotta have this song, it's young love
"Now I'll be bold
As well as strong
And use my head alongside my heart
So tame my flesh
And fix my eyes
A tethered mind freed from the lies
And I'll kneel down
Wait for now
I'll kneel down
Know my ground
Raise my hands
Paint my spirit gold
And bow my head
Keep my heart slow
Cause I will wait I will wait for you"
-I Will Wait for You by Mumford and Sons

"Dark the stars and dark the moon
Hush the night and the morning loon
Tell the horses and beat on your drum:
Gone their master, gone their son

Dark the oceans, dark the sky
Hush the whales and the ocean tide
Tell the salt marsh and beat on your drum:
Gone their master, gone their son

Dark to light and light to dark

"It's time for a champion
Soothe the soul of the land
Mend the heart from the sea and the sand
Until the sun comes up again
Reach for the sky
Keep your eye on the prize
Forever in my mind
You're my golden sunshine
Fits raining in your mind
So push them clouds aside
Forever by my side
You're my golden sun"
 -Sunshine by Matisyahu

Pull up in your fast car
Whistling my name
