I'm back on land and back to the music. Been sailing for a couple months and trying to catch up on all the new music I missed. Needless to say I am still pretty behind and just watched "What Does the Fox Say?" for the first time. Freaking epic I can't stop singing it. You know you are out of touch when your baby cousins have to show you songs.
Today is a mix of music from electro swing to trap to some relaxed beats.
Just listen.
Andrew's Break by AlgoRythmik:
I heard this track on KOTO and had to find it. After a couple weeks of searching I finally found it on Christmas Day. And promptly made my entire family listen in between all the christmas songs my dad plays (despite his Jewishness--he loves all songs Christmas). Electro swing rocks. Ferryboat Serenade is a classic and I love it.
Modern Jesus by Portugal.The Man
"We may be liars preaching to choirs
But we can
We can sell your dreams."
And then there's Mike D.'s upbeat remix that'll blow your freakin mind. Those grindin' synths...
A quote from Mike D on his remix: "I knew I wanted to do the song and push it, make it bump more, trap that shit out."
Trap that shit out indeed, good sir.
Not my favorite but definitely worth a listen.
Lost in My Mind by The Head and the Heart
"Momma once told me
You're already home where you feel loved"
^^Really tugs are your heartstrings, ay?
Caro tha prophet, a good friend of mine, made me listen to "Lost in My Mind" when I got back.
She makes the best CD's.
Words out that The Filmore is really liking what The Head and the Heart is up to. Yaaaaaahay.
All of Me (De Hofnar Bootleg) by John Legend

Oh Jim by Gay Dad
"Can I leave it all behind?"
My friend Nick showed me this one, while wondering who the fuck Jim is.
A lamenting rock ballad filmed at the Holiday Inn in Lebanon after being bombed. Intense.
And lastly,
Skin by Zola Jesus
